MICHAEL R ILUMIN
Michael Romero Ilumin (Born July 18, 1987), is a native San Franciscan artist. In 2002, inspired by the art along train tracks, buses, and rooftops, he began his study painting underpasses. From tunnels to abandoned high rises , he climbed his way up to find his niche, and discovered his very own style. In 2010, Michael and several other local talents founded the artist collective "Inks of Truth" and began working in the heart of the gritty SOMA community on 6th street. In 2011, the collective was selected and won Best Of The Bay "Best Sixth Street Sense" in the SF Bay Guardian Newspaper for the work they did in the community. A year later, he contributed works of art for the San Francisco Democratic Committee campaign headquarters during the 2012 Presidential election & shortly thereafter, organized and produced an exclusive event named "Last Call" in an old abandoned record shop along market street. The event was well recieved and those in attendance were treated to showcased works from over 50 visual and performing artists from around the bay area.
In 2014, Michael orchestrated another showcase, "Welcome to the Outbound" at the famous Hyde Street Studios, where he incorporated art and music. But this time, the event showcased only local acts from the Sunset District, the neighborhood in which he was born and raised.
Most recently, in the fall of 2015 Michael was commissioned by Chef Alioto to help design and paint the interior of his new and now popular restaurant "Nostra" on busy Valencia St. in addition to creating an installation at the city's recent Super Bowl City 2016 event, for all of the US, visitors and locals alike, to see.

Ilumin, best known for his light reflection insignia (birthed in 2011), decided to combine the two elements of family & passion to form an image of what may initially appear to be X's, & O's,but in fact is based on the shapes of turntables, records, and luminescence. This signature design, found often in Ilumin's work, symbolizes the brilliance of light and passion that comes into plat when the light and color hit the canvas.
